A little adventure created by proxy agitators

Adventures: April 13 2025; times approximate, but as close as we can determine

3:15 pm My wife and I took the Country Express “C” bus from Waianae Valley Road enroute to downtown, going shopping. There were only two other people on the bus, a young couple seated in the right rear. We were located about in the middle of the bus, on the left side.

3:20 pm The male and female in the right rear of the bus moved up a couple of rows behind us, to our 4 o’clock position, still on the right side of the bus.

4:00 pm The young couple kept eyeballing us. I snapped a picture of the male, who then threw an apparent gang sign. The female went to the bus driver, told him something that I could not hear, and walked back to her seat. I went up to the driver to inform him that something was going on with the pair; I said I didn’t know what it was, and did not wish to be involved, but just wanted off the bus. The driver said he’d heard her story, and what was mine? I told him again that I did not want to be involved with whatever was going on. I then pulled the cord, requesting to be let off. We were dropped off at the Middle Street merge, the Kalihi stop. I “shaka”ed upon leaving the bus, and the female drew her finger in a “cut-throat” sign across her neck.

4:35 pm My wife and I walked a couple of blocks and ended up taking a Route 20 bus, at approximately 4:49 pm.

5:10 pm We departed the bus at the corner of Punchbowl and Queen Streets, then walked to Whole Foods, where we shopped for food.

5:41 pm Having made our purchases at Whole Foods, we ate some snacks at one of the tables upstairs, then walked to Walmart for more shopping.

6:28 pm We made two purchases with two different debit cards at Walmart, then walked to Punchbowl and Beretania Streets to (preferably) catch the “C” bus home. Finding no “C” buses conveniently on the schedule, we waited for the “40” Makaha bound bus instead.

7:24 pm Bus 40 for Makaha departed from Beretania and Punchbowl.

9:20 pm We arrived home in Waianae and got off at our bus stop near Tamura’s Market.

At home, I looked up both my wife’s and my bus passes online in order to try and get the security video of the male/female duo on the first bus (the “C” leaving Waianae at approximately 3:30 pm). Both my wife’s and my bus routes in TheBus official records had been changed to erroneously reflect our departure via “C” bus from Kaneohe at 3:12 pm (curious, as the “C” does not service Kaneohe), as well as another incorrect departure from Aloha Stadium at 4:49 pm (on the #20, which does not service that area at that time), and yet another departure on the #40 bus from Kaneohe at 7:24 pm (and, no, the #40 doesn’t go to Kaneohe either).

Note: As mentioned above, neither the “C” bus (Country Express) nor the #40 (Makaha) travels to Kaneohe. That is on the windward side of the island, and we live on the leeward side. Thus, I can only presume that TheBus records had been falsified by the time my wife and I returned home.

To surmise: It seems someone did not want my wife’s and my location known at any time on this particular afternoon and evening on TheBus. However, we used debit cards for our purchases, requiring inputs of PIN numbers only we know, and the purchase times recorded prove our presence at specific locations downtown (neither at Aloha Stadium nor in Kaneohe). It seems whoever falsified TheBus records did a particularly hasty job, in neglecting to change the “C” and “40” bus designations to routes that actually travel on the windward side of the island.

I ask again: Why are we being targeted, and for what reason? Also, who was the male on the bus with the casually bloodthirsty girlfriend?

We’re not saying that we know for sure, but according to some grafitti on a bus bench, the “gangsign” belongs to the WestSide KIngs; the fingers making the “9” in the middle of 792, the last three digits of our postal zip code.

More to come on that, maybe.
